Catching up

I saw Frank Capello's He Was a Quiet Man starring Christian Slater at the Gen Art Film Festival. It was the day after Virginia Tech so a bit eerie and well-timed. Then I went to the after-party at Rebel that I was dreading. The allure of stars and socialites and paparazzi and people who think they're big shots because they're on TV and wear designer clothes isn't my sort of appetite. But... drumroll please- Morningwood was there, and I danced to my heart's content with their posse of hired hipsters/devoted fans. There were about 5 of them and the rest of the crowd stood around elegantly and well-dressed afraid to wrinkle their carefully ensembled outfits that captured just the cool amount of casualness and disinterestedness. Except they didn't dance, they just watched with drinks and flashing ice cubes in their hands.

Saw Birthday tribute to Philip Glass concert- words cannot describe the new found respect I have for Jonathan Hauss and the brass department/timpani band? at Steinhardt. Almost made me cry because I wanted to be them. They were so good I couldn't even be happy vicariously. Yes, I did have an existential, Ayn-Randish crisis in the middle of it.

Then Alex Markov's concert at Carnegie Hall- the Paganini virtuoso. Divine! I can't remember anymore.

I'm looking forward to summer.
